A selection of the best hidden beaches in Puerto Vallarta where you can be away from everything
Puerto Vallarta is famous for being a destination with a great atmosphere, an incredible gastronomic offer, and for having some of the best hidden beaches in Mexico. Some of them have the charm of being half (or totally) hidden away from the hustle and bustle, which you will enjoy a lot if you are looking for a relaxing space.
At Hotel El Pescador we have made a selection of the best hidden beaches in Puerto Vallarta where you can be away from everything, enjoying only the sounds of nature.
BEACH MADAGASCAR AND BEACH COLOMITOS
If you would like to do a day trip, beach Madagascar and beach Colomitos are two beautiful hidden beaches in Puerto Vallarta that are just south of the fishing village of Boca de Tomatlan. To get to them you will need to take a water taxi that leaves Los Muertos pier, located just 10 minutes away by car. You can also go on foot and take advantage to enjoy a picturesque morning walk along El Malecón. It is 30 minutes walking from Hotel El Pescador.
When you arrive at Boca de Tomatlán, you will see a path that is on the south side of the small inlet and you will see people walking down that road to get to the line of small hidden beaches that can not be accessed by car. Beach Madagascar and beach Colomitos are about 10 minutes and 15 minutes away, respectively, along this path and making the trek to reach them is totally worth it. These are two small, but beautiful beaches where you will find a space just for you.
Make sure you bring water and some food because in these hidden beaches there are no vendors or restaurants. To return, you can ask for a water taxi that is passing by to stop, or make the short walk back to Boca de Tomatlan again. Be sure to ask when the last water taxi leaves for the Los Muertos pier, since sometimes services end early, around 5 pm, although this depends on the time of year.
Of course we could not leave out of this selection the fascinating Marietas Islands and its so-called "hidden beach" that keeps one of them inside.
First, it is important to mention that these islands are recognized as a natural wonder, due to the rich biodiversity they have, and therefore are protected by the Mexican government. We recommend you book your tickets in advance to visit the Marietas, since to protect their natural environment there is a limited number of visitors allowed per day. The entrance to the fascinating "hidden beach" is only swimming through a natural tunnel that forms between the rocks. Being there is a sensational ecotourism experience; Without a doubt this is the best hidden beach in Puerto Vallarta.
The Marietas Islands are located on the north side of Banderas Bay, in front of Punta Mita, about thirty minutes by boat from Hotel El Pescador.
